What to Expect During Juice Fasting Detox
Precisely because we consume more processed foods than raw vegetables (and plus we dont drink enough water), our body accumulates toxins. Although the body has a 24/7 detoxification system, the sheer volume of toxins that we unknowingly consume everyday overwhelm the body, causing a myriad of unwanted results, the least of which is premature ageing.
Good thing though, theres still SOMETHING that we can do to help our body. The easiest way to eliminate excessive toxins is to go on fasting, or taking a rest from eating from solid foods. By giving the body a rest from digestion, it can focus its energy on eliminating toxins through its detox system composed of the gall bladder, liver, pancreas, kidneys, intestines, skin, etc..
What happens during juice fasting?
During a prolonged period of fasting (at least 3 days), the body starts to burn off and digest its own tissues. The first ones to go are cells and tissues that are diseased, damaged, aged or dead (abscesses, excess fat, morbid cells, tumors, etc.). The stomach then shrinks and becomes less acidic.
After a time you will start to experience some symptoms of detoxification, including acne breakouts, fatigue, headaches, as the body processes its toxins. You might experience any or all of these symptoms, but they should ease, leaving you feeling renewed afterwards!
Vegetables that are good for juice fasting include carrots, celery, cucumbers, and tomatoes. But you can juice almost any fruit or vegetables that you can eat raw.
Fruit and vegetable combinations tend to taste better than pure fruit juice. Apples and carrots, for example, make a nice blend, as do the combination of apple, celery and tomato.
How to do juice fasting?
In juice fasting, its much better to use organic juice and vegetables. But if you suspect theyve been sprayed, peel the skin off. Then rinse the fruits and vegetables in filtered or distilled water. Blend the fruits and/or vegetables then dilute 50-50 with distilled water.
Never ever buy juice from the supermarket, or any juice that comes in a carton. Despite what the label may say, packaged juices are almost always guaranteed to have been treated for preservation.
To make your juice fasting more effective, the juice has to be prepared fresh. The longer the juice stays untouched, the less enzymes it will contain. That said, its always better to prepare the juice yourself, unless if you have a store nearby that prepares it fresh before you drink it.
Juice fasting is really one detox program that you can use to flush out toxins in your body. However, it is not recommended for people who are very new to fasting and to the whole concept of detoxification and detox diets.
